Speaking to a right wing radio host Tuesday, probable GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney re-purposed an expression from Hillary Clinton, mentioning a ‘great left wing conspiracy’ brewing in the press and liberal advocacy organizations to destroy his campaign.
Romney was making a look on Barterer TV and was asked by number Larry O’Connor whether he was prepared to take on ‘the press and these nonprofits groups which can be working together ‘.
‘You will see an attempt by the price vast left wing conspiracy to interact to released their meaning and to attack me,’ Romney said in response. ‘They are likely to do everything they can to move from the concept people value, which is a growing economy that generates more jobs and rising incomes. That’s what people value.
Romney’s choice of words echoes Clinton’s declaration in 1998 that the ‘vast correct wing conspiracy’ was behind the sexual harassment costs her husband, former President Bill Clinton, was experiencing at the time.
‘I am talking about, consider the very individuals who are involved in this they have popped up in different settings,’ Clinton, now the U.S. secretary of state, explained on NBC’s ‘Today’ in 1998. ‘This is the great story here for anyone ready to write about it and find it and describe it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband considering that the day he announced for president.
Romney said coping with journalists, many of whom he explained were biased, was a perpetual challenge for Republicans.
‘Many in the media tend to do the president’s bidding and I understand that is a constant battle we fight with the media generally,’ Romney said, before remembering O’Connor for giving a conventional voice.
The customer said he was unfazed by the prospect of doing battle with the left’s vast operation.
‘Democrats understand that given the president’s report during the last 3 years they cannot operate on that record,’ Romney said. ‘They will make this race about everything but the the economy and president’s record.
